OUT THERE
PART 1 - DISCOVERING PTSD
A travel diary that follows the author’s life in the decade following the 2006 Second Lebanon War. Upon Omri’s crossing the border fence back to Israel, he must confront the "hero" image of the Israeli man and face a new reality of a combat soldier who deals with a mental injury – an injury he conceals from those around him, but especially from himself.
WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE?
PART 2 - LET GO OF MY TRAUMA
At the Burn event, under the influence of psychedelic substances, Omri is confronted with a life-shaping question: Who do you want to be?
This question sets him on a journey to let go of his trauma, reaching its peak in an Ayahuasca ceremony.
Omri Ginzburg
THE AUTHOR
Omri was born in 1984 and raised in the shadow of his father's and uncle's heroism – two war veterans who sustained physical injuries in the Yom Kippur War (1973). At the age of 18, Omri enlisted for mandatory service in the Israeli Defense Force.
In 2017 he moved to Barcelona, where he continued writing this book in an attempt to find an answer for his relentless nightmares. It wasn’t until he read his whole story that he was able to discover the reason for his torment.
He also understood it was time to stop hiding.
